Be gone purple plush trailer booth!

So we had a very typical trailer dinette-booth. Clad in purple to match the rest of the purple decor in the trailer- we considered pulling the booth out completely and putting in a table or a desk or some other type thing- but I like the booth, it gives the trailer some charm! and some storage and a nice foldy bed so we decided it was staying! The table top was ugly- so we ripped it off and replaced it with a solid wood slab. We also looked into recovering the cushions.

Fabric! We looked around at some different fabric types and patterns- we decided to go with outdoor fabric in paisley with browns, turquoise and yellows! We also took our fabric swatch into Lowe's and got it colour matched so our walls are the same as the turquoise in the paisley! The outdoor fabric is much thicker/stronger and will hold up much longer, it also provides better coverage as curtains as we wanted matching curtains. We waited until there was a sale and we bought our fabric at around $10/m. I am very happy we went with the more durable fabric and it is almost a bit waterproof! Which is great for spills.

Can I sew? maybe, I'm not really super into trying it right now so staples it was!

We bought a single sheet of plywood and cut the pieces so they were slightly smaller that the cushions themselves.

We cut pieces of fabric so they wrapped around the cushions and overlapped onto the plywood by 2 inches or so.

We did the corners by laying the edge flat on the cushions and pinching the extra fabric and folding it over- then stapling it down. This makes a nice gradual fold and looks really natural- it also allows you to pull the fabric tighter for a more snug fit.

The fabric made a world of difference! It's fun and snazzy for the trailer but it also looks much more sophisticated and modern for us! The feel of the fabric and the quality of it is amazing. We also covered the the trim for the booth and made curtains! The whole thing really tied together so well and the white paint for the booth boxes matches so well.

We also re-covered the door trim to match- this was also a little detail that made such a big difference!
